Visitors can take part in a free festive adventure with the launch of Wychavon District Council’s augmented reality trail.

Wychavon has teamed up with High Street Safari to run the ‘Hunt for the Lost Toys’ trail in Droitwich Spa, Evesham and Pershore from Monday 21 November to early January.

Players will be guided on their trip by The Luminauts, a team of superheroes who have lost their Christmas presents.

To hunt down the missing presents players will need to scan 10 QR codes at locations around the towns using their smart devices. They will make story choices in a choose-your-adventure style at each stop. Scanning the code releases the cheeky Christmas Imps who will burst to life in augmented reality on their smart device.

The trail takes less than an hour to complete but can be completed in more than one visit. It’s free to take part, and if completed a digital fun pack can be won. While the trail has been designed so there is no need to go inside the venues, some participating businesses are offering discounts and vouchers to those who are taking part.

Cllr Mark Ward, Executive Board Member for Economic Growth and Tourism, said: “This is an exciting, innovative trail that we hope will give families something enjoyable to do over the festive period. It will also provide a great opportunity for people to do their Christmas shopping locally by exploring their towns as they complete the trail, that’s been designed to take in as much of the towns as possible.”
