The Severn Bore has delighted or frustrated viewers over centuries. However, this tidal phenomenon is not only found on the Severn. This talk looks at the bore worldwide, then concentrates on the Severn tide, where the wave comes from, how people use and view it, the shape and changing nature of the river, its channels, floods and banks. This is a celebration of one of England’s great natural free events. Speaker, Tony Conder, is a Festival favourite, usually entertaining us with tales of canals, canal people and railways.Note: 2-course lunch served at 1.00 pm, but arrive early to get a drink and enjoy the lovely house and gardens.
