Orchestra of the Swan: Safety Last!

Orchestra of the Swan join us for this exciting on-stage premiere, performing a brand new score by artistic director David Le Page to accompany Harold Lloyd’s iconic 1923 silent comedy, ‘Safety Last!’.

Lloyd’s portrayal of the new kid trying to make it in the big city is pitch perfect. His astonishing pratfalls will have you convulsed with laughter and the breathtaking stunts will have you holding your breath as the tension rises! Directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, Safety Last! remains a firm favourite 100 years on.

Prior to the film, the orchestra will play music by Piazzolla, Satie, Radiohead and Bowie, alongside traditional Italian and Turkish melodies – all arranged by David Le Page. The screening with live score will then begin after a short interval.
