There has been a regatta on the River Avon in Evesham since 1863. On Saturday 4th May rowers, young and old, will race side by side in singles, doubles, quads, fours and eights over the 1000m upstream course. On Sunday 5th April racing will continue over the sprint course, this time racing downstream starting from Workman Bridge. In 2023 there were crews from 26 different clubs, including local rivals Warwick, Worcester and Stratford-on-Avon but also Monmouth, Bridgnorth, Northampton and Bristol amongst others.
There is plenty of parking by the River Avon on Crown Meadow with picnic benches and lots of shade under the magnificent trees. Food and drinks including a barbeque, homemade cakes, filled rolls and a licensed bar will be available at Evesham Rowing Club and The Boathouse Cafe. Why not make a day of it!
