With half term quickly approaching you may be asking yourself, what is there to do in Worcestershire’s Vale & Spa? Lots is the answer!
GWSR will be teaming up with friends from the North Cotswold branch of CAMRA to bring you the 20th Real Ale & Steam Festival. Up to 30 ales and 10 ciders will be available at Winchcombe for those looking to take a leisurely trip to Broadway.
Kick back and relax with a pint as you and your grandchildren take in views of fresh green fields and Cotswold stone. When you arrive, there’s lots to do in the quaint village. The high street is lined with an array of independent stores and eateries which are perfect for a buying gifts and something to wash the ale down with. Pop into Hamiltons Chocolates for a sweet treat that’s sure to make you their favourite grandparent. Stroll to Broadway Activity Park to entertain the kids, or if you feel up to a hike, walk up to Broadway Tower to take in more scenery and visit the deer enclosure.

Little Comberton Street Market which is taking place between 2pm – 5 pm, Saturday 28 May was established in 1984 and has become a major fundraising event for the village and this year’s will be the first since the pandemic.
Manor Lane in Little Comberton is closed to traffic and the lane and nearby paddocks are lined with stalls and activities. Classic cars, children’s games, face-painting, and refreshments including cream teas, pork baps, homemade cakes and local beers and ciders can be enjoyed while listening to live music.
You can also take part in the raffle for a chance to win a family ticket for Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, a £30 voucher for Pershore’s beautiful homeware store Persora, a cinema voucher for Number 8 Theatre and more!
Entry into the market is £1 per adult and free parking is available on a first come first served basis. Please note, the event is cash only and all funds raised will support St. Peter’s Church and Little Comberton Village Hall.

Did you know that Charles I stayed in Evesham during the English Civil War? Or that Evesham was a Royalist garrison town? Don’t know what any of that means but keen to learn more about Evesham’s important role in history?
Join the Almonry Museum as they take a look back at Evesham’s involvement in the Civil War through a themed trail and crafts.
If you visit between 2 – 4 June, you can meet soldiers from the Royalist Army as they prepare to fight to defend the King. The trail and craft activity costs £1 per child and usual admission applies. More information can be found on the museum’s website.
Between 2 – 4 June, The Almonry will also host a pop-up exhibition comprising of royal-themed collections to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Churchfields is a family-run farm situated in the village of Salwarpe on the edge of Droitwich Spa. Famous for its award-winning, luxuriously creamy ice cream, which is made from its very own cows’ milk, the business boasts over 30 flavours. These range from honeycomb and classic mint choc chip to yummy Jaffa Cake and Ground Coffee.
Churchfields is also renowned for Droitwich Salt – the only brine spring salt made in the UK – and this is often incorporated into its ice cream flavours like Salted Vanilla and Salted Caramel.
There is a lot going on at Churchfields during the half term, from 28 May – 6 June you will be able to go on the Go Karts and pedal tractors, enjoy the Royal arts and crafts station, follow the fairy trail and find numbers to unlock a treasure chest and win prizes! There is an opportunity to build a den to protect the fairies and you can learn all about the Jubilee by looking through the historic Jubilee collection.
As you can tell, this isn’t your average farm!
Set in the lovely Lido Park is Droitwich Spa Lido – one of the UK’s few remaining open-air saltwater swimming pools and Worcestershire’s finest. While the kids are keeping themselves entertained by the water cannons and fountains in the wet play area, you can kick back and relax with a spot of sunbathing! The lido is must for people vising Droitwich Spa in the summer as it’ll make for a memorable day out that won’t break the bank.

Get up close with nature by exploring Snowshill Manor and Gardens this half term. There will be a real buzz at Snowshill Manor as families are encouraged to help nature to thrive, whether its building bug hotels, planting be-friendly plants or letting the grass grow. Kaz & Annie’s Ceramics and More is the ideal spot for arts & crafts enthusiasts. Located in Vine Mews, Evesham near the Almonry, they offer pottery painting and deco patch workshops. Please book to avoid disappointment.
All things wild is open everyday between 10 and 5. Situated in Honeybourne near Broadway. There is so much to do and see in the park, with lots of animals, from zebras to lizards! The All Things Wild park has a Dinosaur Experience, you can take a trip on the Dino land train and head over to the Dino barn where you can learn all about these pre-historic creatures. The ‘monsters of the deep’ aquarium lets you see how big these deep sea creatures were! Visit their website to book tickets.
Droitwich Spa will mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by bringing the town to life through an eclectic mix of art, performance, and culture throughout the day on Saturday 4 June thanks to Droitwich Spa Town Council, Curiosity Productions, Arts Council England and Wychavon District Council. The event is jam-packed with family friendly activities including chalk art workshops delivered by Urban Canvas, theatrical performances, a sing-along, swimming gala, mini funfair and so much more!
