A new burger restaurant with a Far East flavour has opened in Evesham’s bustling Market Square.
Charlie’s, which is located next to Orto Lounge and Papa John’s Pizza, is a family-orientated burger eatery with an Asian twist. Its menu features a pan-Asian selection of burgers and fries including favourites such as the ‘Nutty Bird’, which consists of a crispy chicken fillet coated in peanut satay sauce and Asian Slaw. You can also tuck into ‘Duck Duck Beef’, a beef patty topped with shredded aromatic duck, hoisin sauce, lettuce, cucumber and spring onion. All are handmade with meat sourced from a local butcher in nearby Tewkesbury.
The restaurant also serves up classics such as cheeseburger, ‘Cheese Me’ and a BBQ pulled pork burger. For those looking for a challenge, Charlie’s offers ‘The Meg’ which consists of four juicy patties, American cheese, bacon, onion rings, gherkins and burger sauce. Mac n Cheese bowls and southern fried chicken tenders can also be purchased.
To accompany your meal, you can choose from a range of sumptuous sauces including blue cheese, sticky honey chili, Piri Piri, curry ketchup and loads more.
Owner Vicky Lawson has been working in hospitality since she was 16 and has owned several pubs in the area including The Star Inn at Ashton Under Hill which she has been running for the last 15 years. Having scaled back her commitments about 10 years ago to have her children, Vicky decided now was the right time to jump into a new project and Market Place was the perfect location for Charlie’s, which is named after her son.
“We wanted to create something fast-paced in the town and try something new ourselves. Asian/American food is ever growing in popularity and it’s something that we couldn’t find in Evesham,” she said.
As well as great food, Charlie’s serves up 10 delicious, frosted cocktails so while your kids are enjoying a slush you can unwind with an alcoholic slushy. You can choose from Caribbean Sunrise, margarita, jack and coke and a watermelon cooler to name but a few.
Be sure to order these on Thursdays as you can get 50% off cocktails. The usual selection of wines, lagers and ciders are also available.
“We’re all about serving great quality, top end food here but also having fun – we don’t take ourselves too seriously. That’s where our idea for the slush cocktails came from, we thought it was something different that would add a little joy to our dining experience,” Vicky added.
“At the moment, we’re still testing out what’s hot and what’s not and we introduce new dishes every few months. Our focus in on quality and being the best that we can be here. We want our customers to truly enjoy what we have to offer.”
