Nothing shouts summer like packing up a picnic and heading to the park to eat al fresco. Droitwich Spa has a plethora of parks for you to choose from, most within walking distance of the town centre or just a short drive away. They’re free to visit and have a huge choice of things to do and those much-needed facilities so you don’t get caught short on your day out. In no particular order, we’ve made a list of some of the top spots so you don’t have to.
There’s plenty of choice for anyone choosing to picnic at Lido Park and it’s an especially good choice on a hot day given its access to the famous Droitwich Spa Lido open air pool as well as its fun water play fountains for the little ones. Tennis, basketball, and 5-a-side courts as well as children’s play areas mean you can work off that extra slice of cake. If you’d rather someone else did the catering, the park café, Little Al’s Kitchen, makes this a favourite spot for families as well as being the location of many of the town’s key events throughout the year.

2. Vines Park
With both the canal and the River Salwarpe within its perimeter, Vines Park provides a perfect picnic spot with lots to keep everyone happy. As well as play areas, there is the chance to learn something about the town’s salt industry history thanks to the brine pit replica complete with interpretation panels. Kingfishers and swans are amongst some of the wildlife to look out for during your visit.
3. Droitwich Community Woods
Owned by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, the community woods are located on Ombersley Way and comprise a nature trail through some stunning woodlands and grassland. It also takes in a stretch of the River Salwarpe and boasts an area of saltmarsh as part of its habitat. Dogs are also welcome if kept on a lead and it is the perfect place to teach young children an appreciation of the natural world.
4. Trench Wood Nature Reserve
Another beautiful nature reserve, located near Himbleton and Sale Green that’s managed by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust. Renowned as a butterfly habitat, it features a series of paths with dogs’ welcome to come along if they are kept on a lead. A small parking area can be found along the Sale Green to Dunhampstead Road.
